Fees
Regulated Costs
The fees for orthodontic treatments are regulated by the Dutch Health Authority (www.nza.nl) and adjusted annually. This means that all treatment codes that a used during the treatment period are the same for all dental treatments in the Netherlands. An overview of the mostly used codes and fees can be found here: www.allesoverhetgebit.nl. For your convenience we have listed the most relevant codes and fees for the current calendar year here (download PDF document).
In addition to the treatment fees there are also technic or material fees. These are depending on the materials, the supplier and the applicable volume discounts. Typical examples comprise the clear aligners, retainers and so on. Betti Ortho offers you the highest possible discounted technic fees for the aligners and retainers because we only work with clear aligners and therefor have high-volume agreements with both Invisalign and Angel Aligners. So you get the best of both worlds, a highly experienced treatment team combined with the most economical treatment plan for clear aligners.
Insurance
Understanding Your Coverage
Mandatory (or basic) health insurance (basisverzekering) covers essential care in the Netherlands, including doctor visits and hospital care. However, the term ‘primary care’ only stretches so far and covers only in exceptional cases your orthodontic treatment. For example, in the case of congenital defects of the face or serious alignment problems of the jaws and teeth. But even in these cases, you must always submit an application to the health insurer. The health insurer decides whether the treatment will be reimbursed.
Most Dutch residents take out complementary health insurance (aanvullende verzekering) to make sure they have 100% coverage. These private insurance top-ups can also offer a wider choice among healthcare providers and quicker access to specialist treatment. Most orthodontic treatments are covered by this supplementary insurance. The reimbursements differ per insurance. So always check with your health insurer about the exact coverage.
