Patient Journey

Guiding You Towards a Radiant Smile

Step 1

Register as a patient

The easiest way to become a patient at Betti Ortho is by filling in the online registration form. Please make sure to enter the correct contact details like mobile number so we can contact you to schedule your intake appointment. Once you have completed the registration you will receive a confirmation email with additional information about the orthodontic treatment.

Step 2

The intake process and options

The first step in your journey towards a healthy smile is the intake. The full intake starts with an initial conversation about your treatment goals and preferences. Also your dental history will be reviewed, potentially with the records from your dentist. We will then perform a 3D scan of your teeth using the latest version of the iTero Lumina scanner, make the necessary x-ray photos and photos of your face and smile to analyze your bite. In real time you can see a simulation of your potential treatment and the positional evolution of your teeth. During this appointment we will discuss the duration and costs associated with your treatment and you will receive a personalized cost estimation.

If you are not yet 100% sure about the treatment you can also schedule a light intake. During the light intake we will discuss your treatment goals and preferences. We will also perform a 3D scan of your teeth using the latest version of the iTero Lumina scanner so you can see a simulation of your potential treatment and the positional evolution of your teeth.

After a light intake and once you have decided to proceed with the treatment you can schedule a so-called documentation appointment to complete the intake process with the necessary x-ray photos and photos of your face and smile to analyze your bite.

Step 3

Your Treatment plan conversation

After the intake process has been finalized and we have created your treatment plan the next (virtual) appointment will be the treatment plan conversation. We will explain your complete diagnostic findings and present a variety of treatment options tailored to your needs which are documented and visualized in your personal treatment plan. Our goal is to ensure you feel empowered and informed about your choices.

During this appointment we will also explain and demonstrate how to access the DentalMonitoring app  on your mobile device, as well as guide you on how to prepare for your next visit. Your engagement in this process is essential and we encourage you to share any questions you may have or clarifications you need.

Step 4

Starting your treatment

Once you are fully comfortable with your treatment plan it is time to start your treatment. During this 1-hour appointment, we’ll place the attachments and walk you through everything you need to know about your routine with your aligners. Plus, we’ll make the first DentalMonitoring scan together.

Step 5

Check-ups and monitoring

Orthodontic treatment with clear aligners is a team effort. Your treatment plan is essential, but your commitment plays a crucial role, too. You’ll change your aligners every week or ten days, following the instructions we provided during your placement appointment.

While monthly check-ups at the practice aren’t necessary, we’ll be monitoring your progress closely. We’ll check your DentalMonitoring scans weekly and see you at the practice every 3 to 4 months for optimal results.

Step 6

Refinement

When you reach the last aligner, we’ll check if we achieved the results we planned. If everything isn’t as expected, don’t worry! We can order extra aligners for you. This is called the refinement phase.

During this phase, we’ll perform a new scan and create a new treatment plan. You’ll receive a new set of aligners for those final touches to ensure you get the smile you’ve been working towards.

Step 7

Removal

We finally achieved the expected results. During your one-hour appointment, we’ll remove the attachments, polish your teeth, place the fixed retainer, and make a scan for your night retainer.

After just one week, you’ll receive your night retainer, and the retention phase will begin! This is such an exciting time in your journey to a beautiful smile!

We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you.

Step 8

Retention

The retention phase is almost as crucial as your active orthodontic treatment. Once your braces or aligners come off, the bone structure surrounding your teeth begins to remodel, solidifying around the new positions of your teeth.

However, right after treatment, your teeth can be a bit unstable without a retainer. They have a natural “memory” and might try to shift back to their original positions. This is why consistently wearing your retainer is so important. By staying diligent, you’ll ensure that all your hard work and investment in your smile lasts. You’ve got this.
